Endometriosis Treatment · Claremont, Cape Town
Answers For Your Pelvic Pain, At Last
Endometriosis can turn ordinary months into something to dread. Dr Gary Groenewald is an endometriosis specialist and gynaecologist in Claremont, Cape Town, offering diagnosis, treatment and surgery with clear explanations at every step.

Care Built Around Your Symptoms, Not Just Your Scan
Period pain that stops you from going to work. Pain during sex that you have learned to plan around. A cycle that feels heavier and more unpredictable each year. These are the reasons most patients first walk through the door, and they are taken seriously from the first conversation.
Dr Groenewald works through your history and symptoms methodically, using detailed endometriosis mapping with 2D and 3D ultrasound, and laparoscopy where scans cannot give a clear answer, to reach a diagnosis rather than leaving you to manage guesswork alone.
Every case of endometriosis behaves differently, so the approach to yours starts with understanding where the condition sits and how far it has progressed, not with a standard script applied to everyone.

Endometriosis Diagnosis and Surgery: Cape Town
Endometriosis is not always confined to the uterus and ovaries. In some women, it grows deeper, into the wall of the bowel or the urinary tract, and occasionally it reaches as far as the diaphragm. Finding this before any treatment is planned is the purpose of endometriosis mapping, a detailed 2D and 3D ultrasound assessment supported by MRI where needed.
When surgery is the right step, Dr Groenewald offers both laparoscopic and robotic excision surgery for patients across Cape Town. If mapping shows deep disease affecting the bowel or urinary tract, the operation can be planned as a combined procedure with a colorectal surgeon or urologist, so that everything is addressed in one coordinated operation rather than several.
